GM TRAITS

One of the most important features of an individual GM is its trait. So what are some of traits we are presenPresently, several plants with novel traits (PNTs) have been developed and approved by the Plant Biotechnology Office for release and registration. These PNTs are primarily crops such as canola, corn and soybean with improved herbicide tolerance (bromoxynil, glufosinate, glyphosate, or imidazolinone tolerance) or for quality/composition (high oleic acid/low linolenic acid canola). The general trend observed in traits for crops going through the registration process in the past 10 years has been a decline in herbicide tolerant varieties and an increase in varieties with improved quality, stress resistance and disease resistance.
